Blog 4- Ask Me- Sukhmeet Kaur

In the poem, "Ask Me" written by William Stafford, there are a ton of opinions that can be made. The main theme of this poem is that, one should live the way he/she wants regardless of the circumstances. This author's way of writing to me seems very flawless. He focuses on what he is trying to put in front of his audience, but at the same time he leaves his audience wondering and trying to figure out what this poem was trying to convey. A way to actually be able to understand this poem is by paraphrasing line by line or stanza by stanza. A better result is doing it line by line the way we did in class. During this process a lot of information was given and a lot of things were cleared out. We get to understand the depth of the poem and what the author is trying to state by using certain words. He uses a lot of literary elements which include; Imagery, Personification, and Metaphor. I would recommend this poem to my peers but I would also give an advice to analyze this poem. Because without analyzing it isnt easy to understand. Overall, its a good read.
